Malviya Nagar, a famous assembly seat in South Delhi. It is located in between Saket and Hauz Khas and close to IIT Delhi. It’s been recognized as Malviya Nagar after the noted freedom fighter Madan Mohan Malviya who was also an educator and founded Banaras Hindu University.

The Malviya Nagar was initially populated in the 1950s by refugees from Pakistan, after the Partition.] A large portion of the population is ethnic Rajasthani, U.P(West), Haryanvi, Punjabis, and Sindhis.

Now Malviya Nagar covers Geetanjali Enclave, Bhavishya Nidhi Enclave, Khirki Extension, Shivalik colony, and Sarvodaya Enclave. The nearest Metro of this area is Malviya Nagar.

Malviya Nagar is a constituency of the Delhi Assembly. Malviya Nagar is part of the New Delhi (Lok Sabha constituency) and the current Member of Parliament is Meenakshi Lekhi. Since 2013, the sitting Member of the Assembly has been Somnath Bharti of the Aam Aadmi Party. But you know, he is not doing any kind of work for the betterment for the people of Malviya Nagar constituency. 

The construction work hasn’t been completed till yet. When we complained to the authority, they said that AAP workers are influenced by Mr. Bharti and Arvind Kejriwal doesn’t want the development of this constituency. 

AAP govt. just fooled the people of this constituency. They are just branding themselves. No development has been done in last 5 years. (Shailender Singh Monty)

During my tenure as a councillor, I Shailender Singh Monty have done all the schools in my constituency reconstructed with modern amenities such as smart classes, online teaching modules.

At the beginning of the new session, I distributed bags to all the students of primary MCD schools. 

I had given my full support to the Construction of permanent ghats for Chhath puja and renouncing of several lanes based on religious sentiments.

I (Shailender Singh Monty) initiated largest LED light program SDMC between 2016-17 that was inaugurated by Hon’ble Power Minister Shri. Piyush Goyal Ji in SDA C block park.

When I was young, I was keenly interested to help those, who had not the right source to access fresh water, not able to access good food, not have the access to get quality education. One day, when I met with some young sportspersons at India Gate, I saw that they were playing without the Shoes and any other sports-kit. That day I decided that I have to work for these people. Yes... they are the people of my country. They are my brother and sister, they are my family.

These are not magical words, this is the reality

Now some people are asking that What I did do during my tenure as a Chairmen of South Delhi Municipal Corporation? It might not be the authentic development for my opponents because they don't want to end poverty, don't want to encourage people for their rights, don't want to teach those kids who are going to be a Great Engineer, Doctor, Scientist, Etc. But guys, I just want to tell you, these people have the only right to choose you, these people will decide your fate and future.

What did I do in my constituency?

I have the ability to keep his ear to the ground and of establishing deep and lasting connect with his party workers has enabled him to work towards achieving social justice by:

• Increased the revenue of South Delhi Municipal Corporation by 100 Cr
• Launched the facility of complete online licensing with the support of his team
• Started 100% rebate on penalty for house tax defaulters
• Fixing mobile compactor garbage collection system
• Correcting and repairing water logging points of the constituency
• Repaired and developed better drainage network in record time for better drainage and rainwater discharge system

During my tenure as a counselor, I(Shailender Singh Monty) got all the schools in his constituency reconstructed with modern amenities such as smart classes, online teaching modules. At the beginning of the new session, I also distributed bags to all the students of primary MCD schools.

I helped in the Establishment of Swachhata Sevak vishraam kendras for all swachhata sewaks.

I also Constructed the adventure park for children in all the McD’s situated in this constituency. Installation of Green pier (smoke-free) in the crematorium located in his constituency was completed with the support of me and my team. I am thankful to those people who choose me for their MCD, and I would like to thank God who gave me more and more energy so that I could have done more and more help for the people of my country. 

Playing sports can make you stronger and healthier, contributing to lower obesity rates, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Athletes tend to have lower body mass indexes, but non-athlete participants will still benefit from developing muscles and burning calories. Active sports people tend to have lower rates of diabetes cholesterol and high blood pressure. Exercising regularly through sports programs could contribute to better heart and lung function. 

Sports also play a vital role in imparting character values, according to Sport and Development.org. Playing sports can help teach honesty, teamwork and fair play. Learning to follow rules and respecting teammates and opponents can also be useful. Experiencing the role of a graceful winner and loser teaches us about being humble, and competition, in general, can teach individuals about self-respect, confidence and managing stress. Taking on leading roles within your team can also teach you leadership and team bonding.

Following this theory I (Shailender Singh Monty) promoting sports in my constituency. Whenever I saw the people playing Cricket, football etc in the park, I feel happy for them. Last year when I and my supporters organized the Malviya Nagar Cricket tournament, our moto was only to promote the sports in our constituency. 

A total of 32 Teams participated in this tournament and half of the players of all the teams were between 28 to 34 years. It showed that age is just a number. Some of the players were employed in Government as well as in Private Organisations. When I (Shailender Singh Monty) spoke to them, "Why you participated in this cricket tournament" he said- When I was young I used to play cricket, now I am busy in my job and other schedules, I have no time for playing cricket. I am happy that this constituency has some great leaders like you, who think about others too. This event reminds me of my childhood". 

This year we are also organizing the same Monti Cricket event. A total of 32 teams will fight for the battle. I hope, this year we will get the same support from the people of Malviya Nagar as we got the last year. 

Be it a man sitting on his haunches by a tea stall, an old man basking in the sunlight, a group of teenagers in the society park or a sweeper cleaning the footpath — people in the Malviya Nagar Assembly constituency of Delhi are taking only one name — Bhartiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Shailender Singh Monty. With only 6 months to go for Delhi elections, all candidates have been going full throttle with their campaigns.

Voters in the area feel that voting for BJP may help them in terms of having a direct connection with the Central Government, they are all praise for the accessibility that Shailender Singh Monty has in the constituency. People say that “Monti Bhai” comes during his morning walks and interacts with the people. He is also loved by most senior citizens in the area.

A resident of Malviya Nagar for over 64 years said, “We want someone who will work. There are a lot of issues regarding transport, roads, and water in this area and we need someone who is dedicated to the cause of making Malviya Nagar a better residential area. Shailender Singh Monty comes and talks to people, comes home even and has a cup of tea with me. He hears us out.

The Malviya Nagar Assembly constituency is one of the largest constituencies in Delhi and is also one of a kind. Where on one hand you see a posh elite class locality, only about a kilometre later you see a completely opposite picture. The constituency is a mixed bag of the kind of voters there are.

There is no one particular issue that defines the constituency as well. locality wise the problems differ. In planned colonial areas there are problems of corruption, lack of sanitation, transport, road blocks, and parking space, while in village areas like Begumpur and Khirki the sanitation and bad roads are the main issues.

Within the constituency, there are some urbanised villages like Hauz Khas, Kalu Sarai, and Adchini. Colonies such as Green Park, Gautam Nagar, Malviya Nagar, Hauz Khas which are mostly where the urban middle-class voters reside along with upscale areas dominated with Punjabis and upper-middle-class voters like Sarvodaya Enclave, Neeti Bagh, Geetanjali Enclave, Gulmohar Park, and Safdarjung Enclave are also a part of this constituency. However, areas like Hauz Rani with a massive Muslim vote and parts of the Khirki Village also come under this constituency.

Shailendra Singh Monty was born In Delhi and currently is a resident of Hauz Khas Village. He did his schooling from St Pauls and pursued his graduation in Hotel Management from Pusa Institute, Delhi.

As a young boy, he was always inspired by the stories of the great patriots of the nation and had a dream of working for the progress of the nation. After being influenced and inspired by the nationalist spirit and vision of the Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh (RSS), he became a member of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) in the year 1998. This one act changed his life forever by transforming him into a confident, articulate and multi-faceted politician who is well respected by the electorate of his constituency.

POLITICAL JOURNEY

After being a member of Bhartiya Janta Party, Shailender Singh Monty has always strived towards achieving the goal of social justice explicitly mentioned in the Preamble of the Constitution of India, 1950. By involving himself towards the upliftment of the ultra-poor he has focused on key areas of improvement such as health, hygiene, education. His passion for making a tangible difference in the community by resolving people’s problem made him an ideal candidate for demanding the ticket. He won his first counsellor elections of ( name of the constituency from which he won) by 2200 votes in 2007 and the second election of ( name of the constituency from which he won) in 2012 by 5600 votes. His constituency is popularly known for the best developed and maintained parks, regular cleanliness drives and filling of potholes etc. He is also known for resolving the day to day grievances of Resident Welfare Association ( RWA) on the spot. Therefore, in 2017 the candidate introduced by him from his ward won from ( name of the constituency from which he won) by 6000 votes. His party has given him the privilege of being a Member in Delhi Jal Board from 2008 to 2010, The Chairman of Health Committee from ( duration ), The Chairman for the Appointment and Disciplinary Committee ( duration), Chairman of South Zone ( duration) and took Narendra Modi Ji’s vision forward by becoming the Chairman of Standing Committee from 2016 to 2017.

With an aim to work towards the upliftment and betterment of the poor, Mr Shailender Singh Monty during his tenure of being the councillor for 10 years has undertaken the following initiatives:

Instilled a sense of patriotism and promoted traditional values amongst the residents of his constituency by celebrating major festivals such as Holi, Diwali, Independence Day and gifting sweets, colours and kites.
